Dear Parents:

Disney II has been selected to send a team of three second graders to participate in TECH 2010 on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the State Capitol Building in Springfield! Approximately 100 schools from throughout the state have been selected to participate. Through the second grade team’s demonstration at TECH 2010, the students will be key technology ambassadors to the legislators who serve Disney II.

At TECH 2010 the students will demonstrate the Unit Two project that the entire second grade class completed with their homeroom teachers and during technology class.
The Unit Two project consisted of having the students examine how immigrants came to the United States and the customs and traditions they brought with them. They looked at historical records, read first hand accounts, and discussed what the journey was like for millions who immigrated into the United States. The students assumed the identity of an immigrant and chose a country of origin. They chose from the county of their family’s origin or any other county in the world. The students then created an immigration photo story board and authored a script depicting their journey.
